The Freezing Homeless Child Social Experiment

Hundreds of people just walked right by the boy with his torn shirt and jeans, until an unlikely hero steps up to do the right thing.

For a social experiment, a boy dressed up in a torn t-shirt and jeans and posed as a homeless child on the busy streets of New York. After a couple hours out in the chilling 5 degree northern weather, it wasn’t one of the hundreds of people that walked right by with their shopping bags and expensive jackets that helped the child, but an actual homeless man. This man pulled off his own jacket and clothed the child, then pulled what was most likely the last of his money out of his own pocket and gave it to the child to be able to eat.

The man went on to give him some sound words of advice saying, “I messed up in life, but you know, you’re young you can have a good chance at life.”

After the video was shot, the producers gave that man, who was the only person to show the boy compassion in the few hours spent on the street, what looks like over $500 for being the good samaritan that he was.

The video cuts out with the powerful quote: “If you wait until you can do everything for everybody, instead of something for somebody, you’ll end up doing nothing for nobody.”
