The DEA announced Tuesday that they have successfully seized 154 pounds of heroin, preventing the drug from reaching the streets of New York City.
Along with the conservative estimate of $50 million in heroin, the Drug Enforcement Agency also arrested two men believed to be running a large drug ring related to the Mexican Cartel. According to DEA Special Narcotics Prosecutor, Bridget G. Brennan, “…this load was so large it carried the potential of supplying a dose of heroin to every man, woman and child in New York City”. Later searches of the NYC residences of the two arrested men brought the DEA to also discover $2 million in cash stashed away in the floorboards. This bust was the result of a yearlong joint investigation between the DEA, NYPD Investigators, and state police detectives.
